I'm worried about Newcastle United....
This is a true story. No bullshit.

Bloke I know is an accountant for PL club. He does the Financial Fair Play (FFP) submissions.

Newcaslte can run up £300m - £300m losses in three years amid a huge transfer spend, he tells me.

I asked about FFP - but he said this doesn't kick in significantly until a club gets into the top four.

This is even BEFORE a huge dodgy commercial deal, which concerns him the most, although he had some confidence the authorities would scrutinise any deals closely.....

Newcaslte will probably overtake us in the next few years ... unless the Czech Sphinx unleashes his wallet.

That makes it harder for us to get into Europe etc.

How do you feel about this Newcaslte situation - unfair, not give a shit, or that's just 'the way it is'?

yes, but you and 3lumps fail to appreciate that we've been overachieving the last two years and our normal level is mid table. we have no right to be challenging for anything, especially the toxic cunts that own us and sullivan won't be changing his ways any time soon, so hope we win the conference league as that may be the only way we get near europe the following season

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
They are well beyond football manager, their biggest advantage now is they can afford to take the hits until they get the right squad that’s where the rest of us clubs outside of that level of wealth get bogged down.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
It will take Newcastle 4-5 years to rebuild & gel, no matter how much money they throw at the team.

If we can finish in a European spot for each of those years then it will be us who will be very hard to dislodge.

The bellwether will be who - if anybody - we target and attract this summer.

If the board decide that we've had our bit of European fun and it's now back to the "proper" target of maintaining PL status, then, yes, we are fucked and all that hard work won't be worth a sack of beans.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
it's a very championship manager way of looking at things, if you think just because these cunts have plenty of money it will guarantee success. first off, they haven't got a manager yet that could win them things and are a mile away from having the foundations of a european challenging side. even a proven winner like guardiola still can't win a CL despite throwing hundreds of millions at signings. if, and it's a very big if, you're right and they magically become a contender - it'll be the current top two worrying as we've been overachieving under our current owners

\\And yes, it does matter.

We ARE going to slip down the pecking order.

It WILL be much more difficult to attain European football.

UNLESS the GSB lot sell to a very rich owner with cash to splash.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
A rich list of owners was put together, I saw

Man City - £12bn

Liverpool - £4bn

Newcastle - £508bn

That's right. Over half a trillion in the Saudi fund.
They can afford huge commercial deals just to help transfers. Newcastle are going to be fucking massive and overtake us. That's the reality.

Crap. But there we are.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
Exactly- they can easily throw PSG money around, if not far greater quantities. Basically it may turn into a dick swinging contest between Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia to ahve the best football team with everyone else getting left far behind as they inflate transfer fees and wages to sillier and sillier heights. Essentially it's just boastign to your neighbours on the grandest scale possible. I doubt they'll even care about making the clubs sustainable or solvent because there's a never ending amount to be pumped in, and I am sure FFP won't ultimately be an obstacle to them.

Clubs like Real and Juventus know they are fucked in the long run trying to go up against it- hence the ESL and why the likes of Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal and spurs were falling over themselves to sign up. The only consolation is that it'll be funny watching all the plastic man u and liverpool fans abandon their club when they realise there's no more glory to be had, and just start 'supporting' whoever wins.

A lot are talking like Newcastle have never been rich before, they put a very good side together in the mid to late 90's. This time they have even more money to burn to get it right.......

Try telling QPR FFP only affects top 4 sides.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
The worry is that it just pushes us irreversibly (for now) further down the pecking order and lessens our chances even further of ever winning trophies or getting into Europe.

The money they have, we simply cannot ever compete with.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
I just find it weird that we would be “worried” about another club becoming big.

We need to get our own house in order and stop giving a shit what anyone else is doing. If we fuck up our transfer activity this summer - as we inevitably will - it won’t just be Newcastle moving above us in the league.

I'm far more worried about our rotten board and the way our club is run to be perfectly honest.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
The real answer to West Ham's future lies in the Academy. If it's not producing first team players, then it's not doing its job and people need to be recruited/sacked. That's where the real investment needs to be. Finding more Declans

FFP applies to all clubs, well apart from Man city who's owners/ lawyers will not accept it.

The saudi's are just putting the money in for a return and an asset. The real owners are Stravey woman and the other guy. They will build a good team but not champions league

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
They can buy all the players they want but it's still 11 v 11.

Will those players be any good when it comes to the games.
Will they settle in the PL.
Will they want to go up North.
Will some of these players like being bench warmers.
etc.

We will see,

Money talks.

If they’re putting the money in they will see results eventually. Maybe a few hilarious fails along the way as they piss millions up the wall, but they’ll get there.

I've got huge doubts that the Saudis will pump the money in to the Geordies that people are expecting . especially once the PIF funded inter Milan takeover goes through.
